Morris playing for and thinking of her husband |
 |
Lindsay Morris sat on a couch at the Canisius College physical therapy room gently holding the necklace she wore around her neck that was given to her by her husband Robert, AKA Bud, who is currently serving in Afghanistan. "He gave me this necklace. I wear it to every game," Lindsay said with a smile. "It’s just something little, but it’s a piece of him with me so I’m constantly wearing it."

Final diary for 2008 |
 |
The season has ended and my lacrosse career is over. These past four years have flown by, and being a student-athlete has definitely played a factor in passing the time. I’ve had a wonderful experience playing for Canisius, wearing blue and gold and being a Golden Griffin.
The trip was short as we boarded the bus very early in the morning on Thursday for Iona, w read more

Week of April 27 |
 |
This is the craziest time of year for a student-athlete in season, especially when the team is headed to the most exciting part — the MAAC Championship at Iona College! It was a wild ride to get here after losing against Marist and Fairfield, and our goal is to win out for the rest of the season.
Keeping up with school work when you miss so much class is difficul read more

Week of April 12 |

This week we head into the most important part of our season, our MAAC Conference games! We play Siena and Le Moyne (a non-conference game on Sunday). On Tuesday, April Fool’s Day: Unfortunately no tricks were played today. This was our dayoff for the week. I had class from 8:30 to 11:15 a.m. and then went over to the Lutheran Church Home where I do read more

Golden Griffins making some noise |
|
|
There’s a surprising powerhouse bubbling up in Buffalo baseball. And the Canisius College Golden Griffins baseball squad hopes to keep on impressing people through this spring. They’re off to a 19-2 start after posting their first 16 wins on the road or in neutral-site games, then sweeping Metro Atlantic conference foe Iona in a three-game series this past weekend. They club read more

Week of April 6 |

|
After coming back from our Maryland trip last weekend, it seemed like we all needed a break. So on Wednesday, we had a day off. We were unable to go home for Spring Break because student-athletes in spring sports usually play throughout the break. Therefore we practice, play and have dinners together as a team! Wednesday was our day off. We had brunch as a team at 11:30 a.m. and then dinner at 4:30 p.m. Some of the girls came over to my house (I live with two of my teammates, Lauren Walsh and Whitney Card) a read more

Week of March 26 |
|
|
It’s 1:34 p.m. on Thursday, March 20 and we’re now boarding the Niagara Scenic charter bus to begin the women’s lacrosse Spring break trip. Tagging along with me, you’ll see what it’s like to be a student-athlete on a women’s lacrosse team, oh what fun! First Stop was Bethlehem, Pa. On the way there, we watched Frailty, Good Luck Chuck, and Hairspray (honestly not the best movie selection) and stopped in at the Olive Garden to eat dinner. We got to t read more

The Week of Feb 24 through March 1 |
 |
Sunday is our day of rest (and clean up house day)! This is a very important day as it is required by the NCAA rules and regulations to have one day off for every week of competition. It is also very important because it is an opportunity for the Griffs to take advantage of the day off to work on the homework that has piled up.
This Sunday, in particular, was also a day to cele read more

The Week of Feb. 17 through Feb. 23 |

Sunday was a much needed victory against Holy Cross. The Griffs played a hard-fought defensive battle, which only saw three goals scored and two of them were for us! Sunday once again was an afternoon game, which allowed many of the Griffs to go out for supper with their parents (many of whom had traveled more then three hours). Monday was a great day. As a Canadian, I am truly appreciative of the presidents of the United States of America… but more importantly the day that they have given to us!!!

Falcons prey on Griffs |

It was apparent after the first period on Saturday that the Air Force Falcons wanted it more. The Falcons out shot the Canisius College Golden Griffins 24-5 in the first en route to a 3-1 lead and a 4-3 victory in Atlantic Hockey action.

The Week In Review Feb. 10 through Feb. 16 |

Sunday was different from other days. Usually it was a recovery day for the Griffs but this week, it was the second game of a home-and-home with RIT. We played a great game after a record-setting team penalty minute game the previous night and the game ended with the Griffs winning, 5-4. The game ended early, which gave the Griffs a chance to go out for dinner with friends or family.
Monday was a day off for the Griffs from the rink and the weight room. Pushing back the events that read more

Canisius splits with Holy Cross |
 |
A golden opportunity slipped through the finger tips of the Canisius College hockey team as they split their two-game series with Holy Cross over the weekend – losing the opening game before coming back to win the back end. The split moves the Griffins into sixth place in Atlantic Hockey – four points behind fifth place Air Force.
Saturday night the Griffins came out sluggish from the outset and it cost them as the Cr read more

The Week In Review Feb. 3 through Feb. 9 |
 |
The week started off on a rough note. My leg was bothering me from the night before, but luckily there was the Super Bowl to cheer me up! Thank goodness for the New York Giants beating the Patriots. Some of the guys got together to watch the Super Bowl and had a few pops and some food. Monday was a fun and hard-working practice and unfortunately, I was watching it from the bleachers. It was a competitive game day, which divided the Griffs into two teams via a draft made by Cory Cona read more

The Week In Review Jan. 27 through Feb. 2 |
 |
There were no NFL games on Sunday so the Griffs were able to get back to watching good ol’ hockey. Besides, it was also a day to catch up on some sleep after coming back from Merrimack, the Griffs last overnight road trip of the year. It was back to classes on Monday. This semester has already been much less demanding for the Griffs because there are fewer hockey trips.
Success as a student is more possible this semester. Pract read more

A lifelong journey |

In this day and age of college hockey, it’s not often a young man can come right out of high school and play Division I as an 18-year-old freshman. But, that is exactly what Canisius College freshman forward Vincent Scarsella has done – and boy are the Griffs glad he has.
Through the first half of the season, Scarsella has posted 13 points (fi read more

Griffs have big weekend |

A 4-1 win last Saturday night at the Amherst Pepsi Center highlighted a great weekend for the Canisius College Golden Griffins as they took three out of four points against Bentley College in Atlantic Hockey action.
